Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum
The Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia is one of the eldest outdoor museums in Europe. It was founded in Riga in 1924. It’s situated in the coasts of Juglas lake and occupies 87, 66 he (215 acres) territory of pine tree forest. Here you can visit 118 ancient buildings from all historical regions of Latvia dated from 17th century to 1930.
Open-air museum is a monument of Latvian architecture and lifestyle. Museum is a place where Latvian craft workers works, Latvian traditional festivals are held and exhibitions of traditional art are deployed.
To furnish the buildings more than 4000 ethnographical items have been used. The collection altogether consists of 150 000 items.
