Latvian Fire-Fighting Museum

Latvian Fire-fighting Museum is publicly available research and educational institution acquainting with the history of fire-fighting in Latvia and promoting the basic knowledge about fire-safety rules and action in case of emergency.
Exposition of the Museum acquaints with fire-fighting from 1865 till 1940, history of Voluntary fire-fighters societies, work and recent history of State Fire and Rescue Service, technics and equipment of fire-fighters, security systems ans statistics of fires. Museum offers excursions, lectures, pedagogic programms for pupils and other activities.
  
Museum is located in Art Nouveau building designed by architect Reinhold Schmeling (1840-1917) and built in 1912. The tower of the building is 30 metres high. The building is an architectural monument. Latvian Fire-fighting Museum here was opened in 1978.
