Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre is the only place in Eastern Europe where visitors can see original works by Mark Rothko, one of the most influential artists of the second half of the 20th century, the world-renowned founder of abstract expressionism and colour field painting. The permanent display also features museum-quality reproductions. As such, it is Europe’s only permanent retrospective exhibition of Rothko’s work.

The centre offers a permanent display and temporary exhibitions covering more than 2500 square metres of gallery space. It hosts international symposia for artists, creative workshops and master classes as well as art education programmes for children and youth. The offer also includes accommodation, seminar and conference rooms, and a chamber hall with a grand piano. A souvenir shop and a café are also located on the premises.
