This museum to Jānis Jaunsudrabiņš was founded in 1967 in the historic farm “Riekstiņi”, which was depicted as “Home” in his childhood memoirs “The White Book”. Different exhibitions are located in the five rooms of a farm outbuilding. The master granary holds a memorial exhibition of Jaunsudrabiņš – his books, paintings or their photocopies, different documents and personal belongings, also from Germany. In a separate room, there is an exhibition about some other authors from the area (Zenta Liepa, Velta Toma, Jānis Veselis, Līvu Jurks) and their literary legacy and a photographic material – the prototypes of “The White Book” and “The Green Book”. Other rooms contain furnishings and tools typical of a Selonian farm at the turn of the 20th century. In addition, each year the museum offers a number of thematic, art, photographic or applied arts exhibitions.
Several landmarks mentioned in “The White Book” have been mapped in the surrounding area. They can be reached via a special path. Authentic environment of the buildings and the surroundings transport visitors into the childhood world of Jaunsudrabiņš and enable them to feel and understand the circumstances that shaped his personality.
