The displays and exhibitions of Naujene Local History Museum reflect the cultural and historical heritage of Naujene District and protected landscape area “Augšdaugava” (Upper Daugava). The museum is famous for its exhibition of artwork by sculptor Valentīna Zeile, a native of Naujene District. The open-storage facility “Valentīna Zeile’s Studio” displays over 6000 pieces, mainly created after the sculptor moved to Paris (1956 – 1982). The museum supervises the creation of the Great Patchwork Quilt of Augšdaugava, which has already involved numerous residents of Latvia and guests from abroad. The displays and exhibitions tell about traditional crafts and skills of the people residing in the Daugava river valley and the surrounding area. The cultural heritage of Latgalian, Polish, Lithuanian and Slavic peoples can be explored in historical, art, ethnography and nature displays.
