Around 3,000 ethnographic artefacts are held in the open storage facility installed in the former Sarkaņi School. For the most part, the collection is comprised of artisan tools and artefacts made from the 19th until mid-20th century and reflective of the traditions of the day. Artisan tools and artefacts displayed in the storage facility installed in the former Sarkaņi School are divided in thematic groups such as processing of wool and flax, late 19th to mid-20th century furniture and interior design, household items, traditional measuring units and tanks.
The exhibition display about distinguished locals tells about illustrious people from Sarkaņi – luminaries of Latvian cultural life such as writer Viktors Eglītis, musicologist Jēkabs Vītoliņš, conductor and composer Valdis Breģis and actress Olga Dreģe.
The repository offers temporary exhibitions. Visitors have several options to engage with the collection.
