The origins of the Rīga Technical University (RTU) History Museum date back to 1967. The first display was opened in 1969. From 2017, the museum operates under the auspices of the RTU Research Centre for Engineering History (RCEH). RTU RCEH deals with engineering history research and preservation of historical evidence. The museum has collected abundant facts about the university’s academic staff and students, the establishment and operation of faculties and other departments. The showroom reflects the activities of the university since the foundation of Rīga Polytechnic School in 1862, later known for an extended period as Rīga Polytechnic Institute and renamed Rīga Technical University in 1990.
