In 1992, the family home of Francs Trasuns (1864-1926) was converted into a museum where everyone can learn about the life this early 20th century-luminary of Latvia and pioneer of national cultural revival, as well as explore the cultural environment of a typical 20th century-peasant farm of Latgale. The estate includes a residential house, stonewall cattle barn, bathhouse, granary, apple orchard, linden alley, crucifix and well.

Displays:

  • “Latgalian Farm. The Life and Work of Francs Trasuns”;
  • Permanent collection exhibition “Ancient Household Objects”.

The display showcases unique objects from the museum collection: family relics such as dishes, gramophone and furniture items; a 19th century hope chest and a collection of Latgalian shawls, etc.

Museum education programmes:

  • “Latgalian Wedding”,
  • “Historic Household Objects”,
  • “In Francs’s Childhood Footsteps”,
  • “Historic Christening Traditions”.

The museum offers rental services for seminars, conferences and meetings. Visitors can use an outdoor fireplace and a gazebo located on the museum territory.
