Over time, Jūrmala Museum has repeatedly changed its name, structure and location. Since 1997, the museum is located in a former dry-cleaning and laundry facility in Majori, which was reconstructed for museum purposes in 1997 and 2004.

Jūrmala Museum offers three permanent exhibition displays. The historical display “History of Rīga’s Jūrmala and Ķemeri Resort, 18th to 20th Century” is a journey in time to the bathing areas of Rīga’s Jūrmala and the resort of Ķemeri, primarily focused on the seaside and the history of bathing. Multimedia display “THE BREA(D)THS OF RAINIS. Expanse. Depth. Infinity” is an invitation to encounter Rainis as well as your own self.

The exhibition halls draw visitors and artists alike. They serve as venue for both, contemporary and traditional art shows, and viewers are regularly introduced to the museum’s abundant art collection.

The museum’s primary value is its collection. It holds more than 60 thousand items that tell the story of life in a resort from the late 19th century up to the present day. The museum has three sister sites – The House of Aspazija, Jūrmala Open-Air Museum and Bulduri Exhibition Hall.
