The display features historical documents about volunteer fire fighters, the dawn of professional fire fighting services, the nature of fire fighting and rescue, the evolution of the civil safety system, fire fighting tools, equipment, uniforms, awards, alarm devices, hand, steam and motor pumps, volunteer fire fighting association banners, operational equipment for security, signalling and automatic fire fighting, fire fighting and rescue outfits, gear and equipment. In the museum, visitors can check their readiness for proper action in extreme situations and try their hand in fighting a nominal fire.
The museum is one of the most respected custodians of the history of fire fighting and civil safety in the Baltic States and stands unique among other museums in Latvia.
