Jūrmala Open-Air museum is located in Buļļuciems, at the foot of Raga Dune Nature Park. It is the largest and most entertaining museum in Jūrmala. Its hallmark is a fishing village dating back to late 19th and early 20th century and featuring all the typical buildings: netting hut, residential house, grange, fish-curing hut, swimming hut, etc. Pride of place at the museum is taken by a vast collection of anchors and fishing boats and Latvia’s most extensive collection of rope and cord making items and materials.

During the active season, traditional events are organised here, from Easter and the Long Night of Museums to Midsummer Night Celebration and Harvest Festival in autumn. July through August, every Thursday visitors are invited to take part in master classes and learn the basics of rope making and net weaving, while gourmands can enjoy fish smoking demonstrations and sample some of the freshly hot-smoked fish.
