Lapmežciems Museum was founded in 1999. It aims to preserve the cultural and historical values of the parish, with a special focus on the history of fishing and related phenomena in daily life and the physical environment.

The central figure in the exhibition display is a fisherman at work in his environment. It tells the story of the different forms of fishing life and work as they evolved through history. The history of Lapmežciems is closely tied to fishing. In the exhibition, it is demonstrated by objects found in archaeological digs, which indicate that the occupation of the ancient population was fishing. Other evidence includes historical documents, maps and drawings, which show territorial and economic changes in the daily lives of local fishermen. Photographs, fishing tools and household objects tell about the lives and daily routines of fishermen in the 19th and 20th century, illuminating the close connections between domestic chores, work and leisure. Interactive activities allow visitors to explore the surroundings of Lapmežciems in terms of old place names and its rich natural environment.

In the exhibition hall, visitors can learn about the life of poet Imants Ziedonis, who was born in Ragaciems. Also, the exhibition hall is frequently used for art exhibitions.
