The core of the Latvian astronomy collection named after Friedrich Zander is the exhibition display and collection dedicated to this trailblazer of Latvian rocket science. The Latvian astronomy collection includes documents and artefacts about the history of Latvian astronomy, historical instruments used at the astronomical observatory of the University of Latvia and a meteorite display.
Custodians of the history collection of the University of Latvia acquire, document and preserve significant evidence about the general history of the university and its predecessors – Rīga Polytechnic School and Rīga Polytechnic Institute; prominent people who have studied or worked at the university; lifetime organisations of academic students; the university’s amateur performance groups, sports teams and individual athletes.
