The open-air site of Jēkabpils History Museum “Selonian Farm” is located on the left bank of the River Daugava where it flows through the town. The exhibition display consists of six 19th-century farm buildings typical for the Augšzeme area, notably, a residential house, granary, little grange, smithy, windmill and bathhouse. Visitors can also see the tools and household items of a moderately wealthy 19th-century Selonian farmer.
The museum’s offer includes a guided tour of the farm and a chance to try out different chores such as grinding grain, spinning wool or forging metal. Individual visitors can delve into the museum’s “family basket” and test their mettle with some customised tasks and games. The museum also offers several educational programmes.
