When visiting Carnikava Local History Centre at the Ferrymen Cottage, you can learn about the history of Carnikava, the local fishing customs and the tradition of hunting and processing lamprey. The centre was opened in 2012. It sits on the bank of the River Gauja, in a replica of a classical 19th century Vidzeme fisherman’s cottage whose original was moved to the Open-Air Museum in 1966.
