Kandava District Museum was founded in 1995 with initiative and materials collected by Victors Vītols, historian and teacher at Kandava Boarding School.

At the museum, visitors can see the displays “In a Horse-Drawn Carriage to Kandava Market” and “Our Language – God-Given, Our Place Names – Devised”, exhibitions “Memorial Room”, “The Red Corner”, “He Is Free Who Has the Courage to Be Free” and “100 museum treasures”, a mock-up of the old town of Kandava (from mid-19th to early 20th century), a digital exhibition about the old town’s history and a game “At the Old Market Square.”
