Latvian Museum of Architecture was founded in 1994 as a unit of the National Heritage Bureau. The museum collection has approximately 15 thousand items – original works by Latvian architects, including drawings, sketches, blueprints, watercolours and models. The scientific archive contains documents, publications, photographs and handwritten texts. The museum has no permanent display, but its collection is digitalised and made publicly available. The exhibition hall is frequently used for exhibitions about the history of architecture and contemporary processes in the field.
The museum is located in Old Rīga, in the historical complex known as “The Three Brothers” – three of the city’s oldest residential houses. Visitors also have access to the courtyard, where several important historical construction details from the lost architecture of Rīga are exhibited.
