The museum features unique European travel records written by the Brothers Kaudzītes, a country house interior uncommon for Latvia’s rural areas of the time and a garden laid out and tended by the siblings. Original furnishings from the writers’ lifetime, travel memorabilia and household items preserved to the present day tell about the writers’ lives, highlighting their educational, public and literary work. In the garden, visitors will encounter some of the principal characters from the novel “The Times of the Land-Surveyors” and visit the legendary “Memory Corner” and the gazebo where Matīss Kaudzīte rested from his gardening efforts. Access to the museum is granted only with a guided tour included, which is no obstacle, but a special treat in the form of entertaining and informative stories told by a true local.
